Scans run on your Mac
Every Mac Shield check runs on your Mac. Your list of apps, your files, your settings, your connection and device history and your results stay on it. Mac Shield has no telemetry: no analytics, no crash reporting and no usage tracking in the app.
Exactly what leaves your Mac
Some checks need to look something up. This is the complete list of services Mac Shield talks to, and what each receives:

Mac Shield never sends API key values, recovery phrases, private keys, file contents or network traffic anywhere. When it finds a secret it shows where it is, never what it is.
Your license
To sell and activate Mac Shield Pro we keep your email, Stripe customer and subscription references, your license status and paid-through date, and activation history. The device digest is a one-way digest of your Mac’s hardware identifier, computed on your Mac, together with a cryptographic key that stays in your Mac’s Secure Enclave. We never receive your Mac’s name, serial number, user name or file paths. The free trial uses the same device digest so each Mac gets one trial; it needs no email.
Payments and email
Stripe processes checkout and billing; we never see your card number. Resend delivers license and link emails, without open or click tracking. Each service receives only what it needs to provide its service.
This website
No advertising, no third-party trackers and no analytics cookies. Checkout and the subscription page use secure, HttpOnly session cookies and your browser’s session storage only to finish what you started. Hosting and security services may process request details such as IP addresses, for example to limit abuse.
Updates
When Mac Shield checks for updates it requests a signed update feed from this website. That request includes your app version, not your license key.
How long we keep information
Subscription and license records stay available while your subscription exists and as long as needed for recovery, accounting and legal obligations. Emailed one-time links expire after 15 minutes, and scheduled maintenance removes expired link records. Database backups and service providers follow their own retention schedules.
Questions and requests
Email support@macshield.app to ask about or remove your information. We may ask you to confirm you own the subscription, and some payment records must be kept for legal reasons.
