  • An internet connection for the live advisory feed and lookups. Scans run on your Mac.
  • Full Disk Access is optional but recommended: some checks, such as the recovery phrase search, need it. Mac Shield explains why and opens the right setting.

Signed and notarized

Mac Shield is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS checks it before it opens for the first time. Updates are signed too, and Mac Shield verifies each one before installing it.
